To prepare the installation driver CD, a third-party cd burner application to burn image to a CD. 3 Installation methods There are different types of installation possible with the installation package provided. Those are explained in different sections. 3.1 OS installation on IT This mode of installation is selected when user needs to install the Operating system on a fresh configuration. For this kind of installation the driver update CD is used at the starting of the installation and the installer will update the system with driver images for the required kernels. Follow the procedure given below to install the driver at the time of Installation. 3.1.1 Installing RHEL* and CentOS* a) Boot to CD-ROM or DVD-ROM with OS Disk 1. b) At the Linux installation prompt type: linux dd c) Press at the boot prompt on the Welcome screen. d) When prompted, remove the OS CD and insert the driver CD. e) Select Yes. f) Scroll down to select the Intel RAID adapter driver. g) The utility locates and loads the driver for your device. Note: remove the driver CD and re-insert the OS CD when prompted. h) Follow the Red Hat Linux installation procedure to complete the installation. i) Reboot the system. 3.1.2 Installing SLES* a) Boot to CD-ROM or DVD-ROM with OS Disk 1. b) When first screen come up press F5/F6 key to load a driver, then select installation menu option c) When prompted, remove the OS CD and insert the driver CD. d) Follow the installation procedure to continue the OS installation. Note: remove the driver CD and re-insert the OS CD when prompted. Tip: press ALT+CTRL+F4 to see whether the driver is loaded. 3.2 Updating MPT3 driver on already installed system This method is used to update IT/IR driver in a system, which is already installed with an older (or OS embedded) driver version. Here this procedure explains the manual process of updating the driver. Follow the steps given to update driver. 1) Boot the OS from primary controller/Disk. 2) Copy mptlinux rpm files to a temporary directory in the OS. 3) Query which version of the MPT driver is installed by running the command #rpm -qa | grep mpt3sas 4) (If result of step#4 is null, then skip this step.)Remove the bundled version of the MPT driver by running the command #rpm -e mpt3sas-- 5) Install the new version of the MPT driver by running the command #rpm -ivh mpt3sas---..rpm 6) Run command line #lsmod to check if mptsas has been loaded successfully. 7) Run command line #modinfo mpt3sas.ko to make sure that the mptsas driver version has been updated 8) Completed. ================ Known Bugs ================ N/A ================ Fixes/Updates ================ Version 5.0-25.00.00.00 1.
