The following files are included: FUU.EXE version 3.07 FRU.EXE version 4.04 DIT.EXE version 3.07 FINDDISK.EXE HIMEM.SYS VDISK.SYS AUTOEXEC.BAT CONFIG.SYS flashio/DOS4GW.EXE flashio/FRU.BAT flashio/FRU.EXE flashio/REBOOT.COM flashio/RMFLASH.EXE Installation ============ The Flash Update Utility is used to update the firmware of the RAID adapter but requires that the firmware already on the RAID adapter be in a functional state. The Flash Recovery Utility is used to update the firmware of a non-functional RAID adapter. For the Flash Recovery Utility to work, the RAID adapter must be placed into update mode, normally accomplished by setting a jumper on the RAID adapter. Refer to the User's Manual for more information on setting the RAID adapter into update mode. Both utilities require a separate diskette for the RAID adapter firmware, in a file called RAID.BIN. This file must be downloaded separately. 1. Create a bootable, formatted DOS floppy. This can be accomplished from a Microsoft Windows 95/98 machine by typing "format a: /s" from a command prompt. 2. Double-click on the file FUU_FRU.EXE. When prompted for a location to expand the files to, be sure to select an EMPTY directory. The directory C:\FUU_FRU is selected by default. 3. Copy the extracted files to the bootable, formatted floppy disk. 4. If you intend to use the Flash Recovery Utility, you will need to turn off the system with the RAID adapter, place the RAID adapter in update mode by setting the I/O Processor in reset. If the RAID adapter is currently funtional, you should be able to use the Flash Update Utility without putting the RAID adapter in update mode. 5. Boot the system with the Flash Update/Recovery Utility diskette. 6. Select the appropriate option, Flash Update or Flash Recovery, based upon the status of the RAID adapter from step 4. 7. When prompted, insert the RAID adapter firmware diskette. 8. Reboot the system when the update or recovery process is completed. NOTE: If you receive an ERROR CODE 16 message when using the Flash Recovery Utility, it is likely that the RAID adapter is not in update mode. Either correctly place the adapter in reset mode, or use the Flash Update utility. Fixes/Update ============ 06/30/2000 The FRU (Flash Recovery Utility) version 4.04 has been updated in order to allow flashing through bridges. *Third-party trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
