There
are the following known issues and product limitations in IntelŪ Platform
Administration Technology:
1.
Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 is required to install IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology
Server and Microsoft Windows Installer
3.0 or above is required for IntelŪ
Platform Administration Technology Client. If you are using slim XP SP2, Windows Installer version
may not meet requirement and you may encounter installation failure. You may
run WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe in Setup\Server folder of IntelŪ
Platform Administration Technology installation CD to resolve the problem.
After system reset, installation of IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology
Server or Client will complete successfully.
1. Though the current version of BIOS supports both English and Chinese, restore points named using Chinese in Windows cannot be displayed properly in the BIOS. Please use English to name restore points.
2. We strongly recommend that you use Windows’ built-in disk partition tool to partition and format the hard disks.
3. The server disk fragment status will impact the provisioning performance, suggest use defrag tool to clean up the fragments on server disk before create/deploy image/package.
1. The server UI might respond slowly when you send some commands to clients, such as when the server sends commands to deploy images or incremental packages. Please be patient when this issue occurs. You may also enter the server UI from a client machine.
2. When creating software update packages for applications that require a restart during the installation process, please use the following method: After the application is installed, restart the Golden Machine and press F2 to enter BIOS. Then, on the server, execute the command to create an incremental package on the Golden Machine. Then go back to the Golden Machine and exit BIOS. The incremental package creation will begin.
3. The maximum size of IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology images and software update packages is 2TB (2048GB). The file system on the server should be NTFS.
4. If the partitions on the Golden Machine have been changed (due to repartitioning or resizing a partition), you must restart the Golden Machine to allow the change to take effect.
5. If the user needs to re-install the OS on a client, the hard disk protection must be disabled first.
6. Sometimes deployment will fail on a few clients. This could be caused by network errors or overheated machines. You will need to redeploy these clients to enable them to work properly.
7. We recommend that all of the client machines are of the same hardware configuration.
8. IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology Client only supports one physical hard disk installed on client machines.
9. Deployment speed may be affected by network performance. In a low-performance network, deployment may take more time than in a high-performance network.
10. Intel(R) PAT password will not be deployed to other clients through image deployment. When image deployment is finished, you are recommended to change all clients' Intel(R) PAT password from Intel(R) PAT Management Console.” Default password is empty.
1. When the server detects hardware changes since the last boot, it will generate an asset alert. Hardware information includes CPU, motherboard, memory, and hard disk.
2. Asset Alert does not report the removal of the following hardware:
|
Board name |
Hardware devices |
|
IntelŪ Desktop Board D946GZAB |
Monitor, PS2 mouse & keyboard, and CPU. |
|
ASUS Desktop Board P5L-MX/iPAT |
Monitor, PS2 mouse & keyboard, and CPU. |
Note: Asset alerts for the removal of RAM will only be reported in cases where some, but not all, RAM is removed. In cases where all RAM is removed the PC will fail to boot but no alert will be reported.
3. Please refer to user help Asset Change for more information about asset alerts.
1. Network performance will be impacted while IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology server is deploying images to clients because the IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology server will utilize as much network bandwidth as possible. We recommend that you perform image deployment during non-peak hours in i-Cafes currently in business. You can also adjust the maximum network utilization rate in IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology server management console.
2. If software update package deployment is interrupted on a client, the only way to get the client to work is to restart deployment to it. If image deployment is interrupted, deployment should resume automatically after restart. However, if deployment does not resume automatically, re-deploy the image.
3. Windows or other software firewalls may block IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology packets. This situation can be remedied by turning off the firewall and restarting the computer.
4. IPAT V3.0.2 offers remote power up feature through WOL (Wake On LAN) technology. WOL packets are sent from IPAT server, when it is received at client side, the client machine will power up from shutdown state. When the network traffic is busy, WOL packets might be dropped on the way from server to client machine, although IPAT uses retry mechanism, it may still happen. So please avoid use remote power up feature when there is heavy traffic in the network, especially in deployment.
1. If CSM is dragged under the Windows taskbar, and the Windows taskbar is locked, the CSM user console may become stuck or appear in an abnormal state. If this happens, you should restart the PC to recover CSM functionality.
2. Changing the CSM IP address and port information from the General tab of the Options window of the CSM administrator console will result in the CSM client not being able to connect to the CSM server properly. Please refer to the user manual for the correct way to configure IP address and port settings.
3. List of online clients may not always be current when viewed in the Advanced tab of Options window of the CSM administrator console. This is caused by unstable LAN conditions or unexpected disconnection of client PC.
4. If the CSM client becomes disconnected from CSM server, the user will not be able to download new games or new game update packages. Restarting the PC will resolve this issue.
5. If i-café administrator installs a game or creates a game update package, and then runs it before uploading it to the server, it may cause a disk IO error during the data transfer process. Please do not run games or update packages before uploading them. This is because during launching, some games may delete some temporary folders which causes game/game update package incomplete. We suggest i-café administrator not to launch the game before new game/game update package uploading.
6. Client disk partitions managed by CSM must be NTFS format and not protected by other hard-disk restore tools including IntelŪ PAT Hard Disk Restore.
7. CSM doesn’t support games located within the subfolders of other games. This may cause CSM to function abnormally.
1. The client component of WanXiang 2000* billing software has the following compatibility issues with IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology V3.0.2 client:
1) On clients that have WanXiang 2000* billing software installed, IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology Client will not be able to rename the computer during the post-configuration process because WanXiang 2000* billing software replaces the Windows logon UI with its own.
2)
IntelŪ Platform Administration
Technology Client cannot be uninstalled successfully when running the uninstallation in WanXiang
2000*. On clients that have WanXiang 2000* billing software installed, if you want to
uninstall WanXiang 2000*, the program will invoke the
uninstallation API of IntelŪ Platform Administration
Technology Client. However, this
function is designed for IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology Client V
Note: These problems have been fixed in the latest WanXiang 2004* client.
2.
Symantec AntiVirus

3. DFWDOS client software has the following compatibility issues with IntelŪ Platform Administration Technology V3.0.2 client:
On clients that have DFWDOS V installed, before login to DFWDOS client, remote update BIOS or IPAT firmware agent through IPAT server UI will fail. You may login to DFWDOS client and run remote update BIOS or IPAT firmware agent through IPAT server UI again.
1. V3.0.2 only supports D946GZAB board. V3.0.2 does not
support other IntelŪ PAT enabled motherboards.
2. V3.0.1 does not support previous IntelŪ PAT enabled motherboards. V3.0.1 only supports ASUS desktop board P5L-MX/iPAT.
3. V3.0.0 does not support previous IntelŪ PAT enabled motherboards. V3.0.0 only supports D946GZAB board.
4. V3.0.x server does not support V1.x/V2.x client.
We recommend that you refer to the User Help and use the same
version of agent and client.
