This is the driver used (only) durring installation of UnixWare 7.1 to a RAID Volume or pass-through drive. Execute UW_HBA.EXE to extract the files listed above. 2. Run the included executable file (SCO_HBA.EXE) on and Windows NT or Windows ‘9x system to create the UnixWare HBA diskette (requires floppy diskette). 3. Install the UnixWare 7.1 OS using the install instruction provided in UnixWare 7 Installation Guide manual. 4. The UnixWare installation process will prompt you to install a Host Bus Adapter diskette. At that time insert the Unix HBA diskette. NOTE: Do NOT install NIS - During the installation of UnixWare, you will be prompted to install the Network Information Services (NIS) package. When prompted defer the installation of NIS by pressing F8 on the NIS configuration screen. If you decide at a later time to install NIS, you can do so using the pkgadd(1) command. Using a Microsoft Windows client (NT, 98, 95, etc.), run UW_OSM.EXE to extract its contents to a directory. 2. Using a Microsoft Windows client (NT, 98, 95, etc.), copy the file uwosm.tar to a floppy diskette. Label the diskette "UnixWare Drivers". Alternatively, if the uwosm.tar file has been downloaded directly from the target UnixWare system, or if uwosm.tar can be copied via the network to the target UnixWare system, simply place the file in a directory on the target system and skip to step 5. 3. Mount the floppy diskette drive on the target UnixWare system: a. Create a directory to mount the file (ex: "mkdir Disk_A") b. Mount the Floppy drive by typing "mount -F dosfs /dev/fd0 /Disk_A" 4. Copy the uwosm.tar file from the floppy drive to a directory on the target system (ex: "cp uwosm.tar /Temp") 5. On the target system change to the directory where the uwosm.tar file was copied. Extract the files from uwosm.tar by typing "tar -xf uwosm.tar" 6. Run the driver installation shell script by typing "sh install_osm" from the directory where the files were extracted. The RAID Software Suite shell script will execute. 7. Select option 1 "Install RAID Device Drivers (OSM)" by typing "1" and then . The installation of the drivers then begins. 8. Press enter several times to proceed. Type "y" and then when prompted to accept the terms and conditions. When the script has completed, the message "Installation Completed. Hit to continue." is displayed. Type "q" and the RAID Software Suite Shell Script main menu is displayed again. 9. Select option 3 "Exit" and then to exit the installation shell script. 10. Reboot the target system in order for the new drivers to load. Note: If the OSM packages (Drivers) have already been installed and are of the same version as those being installed by the shell script the following error message will be displayed: "UX:pkginstall: ERROR: request script did not complete successfully" Fixes/Update ============ 06/30/2000 - This is the first release of these files. *Third-party trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
